Scott's turn...

So, it’s my turn to write a post.  Davina is clearly better at this stuff than I am due to her far superior communication skills.  I’m sorry in advance.

Today marks 38 weeks of pregnancy.  It’s crazy to think that Wiggles could arrive tomorrow… or 3 weeks from now.  No one knows, and no amount of “research” will predict the future.  Either way, there is a full-size baby chillin’ in Davina’s tummy that is perfectly capable of thriving in the outside world if he/she was to join us today.  That’s bananas.

there's a baby in that belly!

Every day that passes, anticipation builds.  Davina is starting to get some strange symptoms that could mean labor is close… or 3 weeks away, again, the data on this is frustratingly vague.  Its clear that Wiggles has dropped into her pelvis as she appears to be carrying much lower.  This change in position also comes with some fun and frequent “fanny daggers” as nerves in her lower pelvis are pressed by baby movement.  We’ve also experienced a few fairly strong Braxton Hicks, or real contractions, or neither… again, frustratingly vague indicators.

Davina finished her last day of work today until, likely next year.  That seems like a big milestone.  We’re not really waiting on anything anymore; just baby to come!  I might as well be on leave now too, work is becoming more and difficult to focus on as I impatiently observe signs and symptoms coming from my kitchen table co-worker.  With all the challenges this pandemic has brought during pregnancy (no baby shower, virtual birth classes, inability to accompany Davina at appointments, etc), I have to say it’s been a blessing to work from home and experience every day of the third trimester right alongside Davina.

Wiggles, I anxiously await your arrival.  We are ready for you.  We love you.  We can’t wait to meet you.

Your surfboard is waxed and ready to go.

(I’m sure Davina will edit this this before it gets posted.  You can thank her for making it marginally intelligible)
