finding our groove
7 weeks + 6 days.
Whew! Time flies when you're caring for an infant. Between snuggles, feedings, burps, diaper changes, more snuggles, more feedings, more diaper changes... well, you get the picture. We no longer experience time like we used to.
Farryn is a blast. In the last two weeks she's showing way more interest in us – smiling and interacting with the cutest "ooohhh's" and "aaahhh's". She'll be chatting away before we know it! She's happiest in the mornings and I relish my time with her. Whether she's kicking furiously on her playmat and gurgling away at the hanging toys, or nuzzled up close to my face trying to make her mouth move like mine when I say "hello", I am on cloud nine.
I have the morning shift and Scott usually sleeps on because he's assigned the second night feeding. But, he's caught wind of her awesome mood in the mornings and is getting out of bed earlier and earlier to spend time with her too. We bask in her beauty and joy like two lovestruck, teenage fools. It's pure delight.
Not that it's all rainbows and toothless infant smiles. Like all babies, she can get fussy. And very demanding when she's hungry. I'm learning to get the boob out faster and faster. HAHA! Never thought I'd write that in a blog. Rather easy to calm though, Farryn relaxes quickly when nuzzled up to one of us in her carrier. Although, you can't just sit down and relax while she's strapped to you, she usually wants you moving – bouncing on the yoga ball, pacing the house, strolling around the neighborhood, or walking on the beach... doesn't matter, just keep moving!
Scott's paternity leave is coming to a close as he goes back to work next Monday. YIKES! We're enjoying these last few days all together and not worrying too much about what's ahead of us. I'm confident the three of us will figure it out... our days may just look a little different than they do now. Luckily, he'll still be working remotely, so if I need his help he'll be around to jump in when necessary.
In the meantime, we'll continue our daily morning visits to the beach and afternoon snuggles and naps on the couch. Life is simple and sweet.

Wow, 7 weeks (well 8 practically) already... pretty amazing. You two lovestruck teenage fools made one damn cute little baby! :) Love seeing your smiles while holding Farryn. ~Lisa
