Fae Bae Fun

I know I say every phase is fun. And it remains true – this is phase is super fun! Fae Bae gets more and more fun by the day... she's about 7.5 months now and absolutely full of it.

She's always been a curious baby; seriously, from the day she was born you could see her curiosity. And now, she's constantly investigating everything – from my nipples (milk comes out of here?!?!?!) to Mea's paw hair to the faucet on the sink to the tiniest crumb on the floor... you get the idea. This kid is fascinated with everything. And she will not be distracted. When Farryn sets her mind to something, WATCH OUT. Do not get in her way. In fact, I think we may have gotten a preview of future toddler temper tantrums. Lord help us.

Playtime with Daddy continues to be a gymnastic-style adventure! She loves all the tossing, throwing, topsy turvy games he plays with her. You should hear her giggles of pure delight when she's with Dada! Anytime he walks in a room, even if she's nursing, she'll immediately spot him and give him the biggest, brightest grin. It's absolute magic.

Two bottom teeth have finally emerged. The first arrived last Thursday and only a week later, the one next to it popped out! I literally felt like she'd been teething for months... she didn't seem to have an issue with the tooth actually breaking through the gum. Rather, it was the pressure building up to emergence that bothered her. Or... as Scott says, it was something else. Who knows?!? She's a baby. She will not let me get a picture of her teeth and is constantly rubbing her tongue along these new foreign items in her mouth. Any time I try to open her mouth to get a peek, she immediately blocks my view with her tongue!

Still desperate to be on the move, Farryn is now sloppily army crawling along the floor. She'll use all of her energy to make her way across the mat to get one of Mea's toys. Nevermind that she has a slew of her own toys splayed out in front of her. Those are boring and old and not covered in both fur and dog slobber. It's super fascinating to watch her shimmy, caterpillar movement as she desperately maneuvers to reach a toy. She doesn't give up easily and has no problem airing her frustration loudly. I had no idea human vocal cords, other than Mariah Carey, could hit these kinds of octaves.

Her sleeping patterns are finally consistent and we're all a lot happier because of it. She sleeps well during the night  – and only gets up once to feed – and takes two solid naps during the day. She's a pro at putting herself to sleep and honestly would rather sleep in her crib than anywhere else. When she gets up in the mornings, Scott brings her into our bed for me to nurse her, and then the three of us snuggle together all warm and cozy. It's heaven. Pure heaven. Our little family trio in bed together makes my heart feel the fullest it has ever felt. And when she grabs my face and kisses it with a wide, open mouth and her sweet, milk breath slobber is left all over my nose and cheeks, I feel pure contentment.

In the middle of the night when I'm nursing her and it's just the two of us awake, I still can't believe she's mine. I feel her warm body against my stomach and I think about how not that long ago she was growing inside my womb. I am sincerely grateful to have her here with us – she's healthy, happy, adored, secure, and deeply loved.
